"Ha. 350th Review and the first one for '08."
Well I dun have anythin' especially critical to say. All I can say is that I've consistantly watched this flash every year since it came out and it is more of a tradition to watch this than to participate in any holiday nonsense. So then, I thank ye good sir for animatin' this brilliant piece of Bob and Tom so that I can have at least one laugh a year at the expense of this rediculous month.
Cheers.

As an opener, I would like to state that I have been watchin' this series before Episode Four was released. I was rather excited to see a new installemt and while there were laughs to be had, I can't find myself able to shake the feelin' that the humor was off it's usual mark of quality.
This isn't to say all the jokes were bad, however, some of them, especially the 300 joke, simply came out as too predictable and while that was even addressed within the movie itself, it just does change the fact that it was ANOTHER "This is X" joke usin' the same dialogue, save for the location name. There was a fair degree of cleverness to be had, Zelda's interrogation, for example and the moments like that kept this movie aloft. However, again, the fact that many jokes were either low in quality or just poorly presented hurt this piece a fair deal.
This also brings up a bit of a tangental note. In Episode 2.2, while ye had conciously made a Burly Brawl joke, ye actively avoided the obvious step of mass combat. In yer We Are The Champions video author note, ye stated that Bohemian Rhapsody had been done to death, and as such, would not make a music video of it. To me, this told me that ye were above makin' poor design and humor decisions simpley because of something bein' popular or a fad, as ye recognized this would have an overall detrimental effect on the quality of the production. To this end, I have to say I felt a bit of a sting when ye actually went through with the aforementioned 300 joke without some kind of a twist.
Further, the length of the video also caused it to drag at points, dampenin' the overall experience. What I'd enjoyed about previous installments (such as Episode 3, my personal favorite) was the rapid-fire succession of jokes and gags within the approximately five to six minute time frame most of them had. While the numbers might not add up to it, this one felt like it had the same number of jokes, but over triple the time span and once again, some of the jokes came across flat.
All of this said, I know ye're capable of significantly better and I can understand circumstances occurin' that can cause one to miss their mark, even by a large margin, thus I look forward to Four Swords Misadventures 7 and hope that ye get back on track with the most important part, the humor.
Good Luck.
Author's Response:
The reason behind why I didn't decide to make a Bohemian Rhapsody Music video out of Four Swords was simply because back then I wanted to experiment with other ideas at the time. My intention in making those 4 swords videos was to find a Queen song and relate it to Zelda. When it came to BoRhap, I simply didn't find a lyrical connection with Zelda, which is why I didn't use it. though I did make subtle references to it in Princes of the universe.
As for the main story, It's a whole different Idea. Besides coming up with original jokes, I noticed that during the time I spent on youtube, most of the fans prefer random humor and occasional memes. I tend to experiment with a lot of things in & out of the Zelda games and I simply went crazy with this one.
I'm aware that not everyone has the same taste and there's no such thing as a "perfect" episode in a series, I'm only doing what I can to tell an amusing story, even if it means being oversaturated with old, yet popular, gags.
You will see more cleverness in future installments if I take this series in the right direction. Believe me.
Thanks for the constructive criticism. I'll keep that in mind.

I must say that I'm rather impressed, many subtle nuances, all of them easily picked up on, accompanied by an interestin' song and some decent, if goofy animation.
Also, bonus points for knowin' that Yoko Shimomura did the composition and arrangements of the game's music.

I thought you said this was going to be funny?
The only instance of humor was the Soviet Anthem being included.
All of these were slow, pathetic, senseless and non-entertaining. If you honestly think this is blockbuster humor, you Sir, are in need of a labotomy.
The Graphics were standard mario sprite fare, nothing particularly notable. All original animations were unpolished and lousy at best.
The Audio was also standard Mario fare. However the repeated use of the "Ha ha" got real old, real fast. Also as stated before, the only thing worth seeing this flash for was the Soviet Anthem, which is better put into effect in The People's Mario.
Style? What style? This was bad humor tagged to standard spriting and substandard hand work.
Violence, way too much violence for bad attempts at humor.
Humor did not exist in this movie.
Overall, this was a complete waste of time, effort and brain power. Cliche "Jokes" over the top, unnessisary and worthless violence in the vain attempt at a chuckle.
You probably would've been better off with fart jokes and bald gags.
Author's Response:
Ah, so you took the time to read the description! Very well done! Now let's see here...
Well, I'm terribly sorry that you didn't find any part of my animation to be humorous besides the inclusion of the... Wait, Soviet Anthem? No, that song was called "Farewell to Slavianka" by the Russian Red Army Choir. They are two entirely different songs which sound nothing alike, besides the fact they are both sung in Russian.
Everything that you have decided to label my cartoon (slow, pathetic, senseless, non-entertaining) is nothing more than a summary of your personal opinion. Everyone has different tastes, as you've so clearly demonstrated.
I'm in need of a labotomy? I wonder if any part of your review will feature something more than childish remarks and insults. I certainly hope so.
Sure, some animations, such as Mr. Solem's Rise of the Mushroom Kingdom may feature "polished" Mario sprites, but even then the sprites still have the feel from the game they came from. Not much can be done to modify the famous 16 bit hero besides arranging a few pixels differently or adding some other slight alteration.
My original animations were very experimental. I rarely see a ragdoll flash character take advantage of more than a few perspectives, whereas I've made many perspectives per limb. It was an original idea, which you clearly hated. Your opinion is your opinion, though.
Actually, a limited amount of the sounds came from the Mario series. Only 24 of the 86 unique sound effects came from all the Mario games combined. Though they were used numerous times throughout the flash, a vast amount of the sounds came from outside sources. Usually, a Mario flash depends solely on the use of Mario sounds. My animation used plenty of different sounds.
The "ha ha" is personal preference yet again, moving on.
More opinion and partially developed insults, alright.
Even more personal preference on the subject of violence and humor? Please, say something that might help me, as a constructive review is required to.
Ok, just reading your review has bored the hell out of me. You wrote absolutely NOTHING that could be interpretted as possibly being even slightly helpful, just some immature cracks at something you probably couldn't do yourself. Ironic how you come off as some pompous entity that knows all about how to make a grand and glorious flash presentation, yet again offer no tips or points of advice.
You should probably focus on giving the author a fair critique rather than giving the author a rant about how your personal expectations, however high, weren't met. Thanks for being the longest, worst review that I have ever recieved. That means absolutely nothing at all to me.

One friggin' word; WOW!
This game was simply spectacular.
The graphics suited the purpose and complimented it, but weren't over-done.
The Audio was probably my favorite part, the croud constantly makin' noise made it feel like you were actually competing, especially when you scored big points and the croud goes wild.
The game was very fun, different things were introduced bit by bit at a pace that was appropriate for the game though the last level irritated me a bit and I only cleared it because I made a random shot and it happened to go in.
My only real critique would be that the final level was a bit of a let down, since it's the finale, I think it should hold the opportunity for the biggest points. As it is, it's kinda annoyin' really.
All and all, this game is goin' on my favorites and stayin' there!

"Eighty-Eight miles per hour!"
Yoshi in a Dilorian (SP) I never thought I'd ever see that.
Needless to say, I'm glad I did.
The first movie's whole presentation was well crafted, as well as paying homage to certain other flashes. (You know what they are)
The second movie carried a similar theme to the first and while amusing in it's own right, was outshone by the first.
A 9 for the first, a 6 for the second.

Excellent work! The premise was never boring and the whole "plot" fit with the music perfectly.
I feel like playing Melee now...
Author's Response:
Hee hee Thanks. *Sigh* I only have it on 64.

Not a bad start, but it needs to be improved upon.
Also, the collision detection for the final opponent is pretty bad, it'd grab things that weren't even close to it. You may want to work on this.

Wow!
This was one of the most fun flash games I have ever played.
The premice was rather original, the controls were tricky, yet well suited, it was amusing quite often, the audio was perfect for this and the final boss tied the whole game up nicely.
Great job!
